Whole Life Carbon Assessment

The Eden at New Bailey is a project being delivered by Bowmer + Kirkland (B&K)  and will consist of 115,000 sq ft of commercial office space and feature the largest living wall in Europe.

Mainer Associates are excited to be part of this development and have been brought on by the main contractor, B&K, to deliver the Embodied Carbon Analysis and to take BREEAM Assessment through the As Built Assessment Stage.

The Eden will add to an increasing stock of BREEAM Outstanding buildings in Greater Manchester.

Mainer supported B&K during development of their tender to respond to embodied carbon targets and reductions opportunities recommended within the tender documentation.

Mainer facilitated a key reduction opportunity by working with B&K and the supply chain engagement via the use of a reclaimed access flooring system instead of a newly manufactured system, removing the vast majority of A1-A3 associated with a typical system.

The total reduction of embodied carbon amounted to 435 tCO2e.

“This place-changing building has been designed to push the envelope in terms of sustainable regeneration and highlight what can be achieved when like-minded partners work together to deliver something truly special for the benefit of everyone.”

Phil Mayall, Director at English Cities Fund
